Contracts, Customer service, SMS, Prepaid, Belize, CLA: Deployment of Lucent’s SurePay solution will integrate Belize Telecommunications Limited’s (BTL’s) existing GSM, AMPS and wireline charging/billing systems into one platform.

The agreement is for Lucent to deploy a real-time rating and charging solution for BTL voice and data services.

BTL will soon be launching a range of new and enhanced services to its prepaid customers by means of Lucent's SurePay real-time rating and charging engine, which has been commercially deployed in networks worldwide with a base of more than 135 million subscribers. SurePay is a scalable, converged pre-paid/post-paid billing solution designed to support a wide variety of voice, data, content charging and e-commerce services.

Dean Boyce, Chairman of the Executive Committee of BTL, is highly optimistic: "As we roll-out our advanced features and service packages to our growing prepaid customer base, we will leverage Lucent's SurePay platform to support a wide range of flexible payment plans, service bundles and promotions targeted to particular customer segments…This will enable BTL to respond to the needs of the market and deliver enhanced value proposition, as well as to maximise the return on our investment."

Lucent is also supplying BTL with a Short Message Service Centre (SMSC) platform with the Wireless Messaging Gateway (WMG) module that allows users to send and receive short messages to and from email addresses. Lucent Worldwide Services is charged with integrating SurePay with the customer’s current infrastructure and providing complete installation and integration of the Lucent applications suite.

* Belize Telecommunications Limited is a supplier of telecommunication solutions encompassing wireline, wireless, high-speed data services (national and international) GSM mobile cellular, international cellular roaming, fixed wireless, and high-speed Internet services, e.g., DSL, wireless, and dedicated circuits.
