A new report now claims that India's largest telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited will soon launch a new tablet and a smart TV.
Mukesh Ambani-led telco is said to be working on a Jio tablet and a Jio TV. The two electronic products are expected to launch in India sometime next year.
A report by 91Mobiles, citing tipster Mukul Sharma, does not reveal any specifications of either product. It, however, claims that the Jio tablet will run PragatiOS, which is also found on the JioPhone Next. The custom Android skin was developed with Google exclusively for Jio Phone Next. It also supports many regional languages of India.
According to market pundits, the two devices are likely to be positioned in the ultra-affordable space just like the JioPhone Next.
Jio TV could have smart features like support for OTT apps. It’s possible the telecom giant may bundle the set-up box that it offers with Jio Fiber broadband with the TV, they said.
Reliance is also reported to be working on its first laptop called JioBook. The laptop is said to be powered by a MediaTek MT8788 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM.
The market observers said that Jio is aiming to create an eco-system of its own, with its Jio telecom, Jio broadband, Jio laptop, Jio TV, Jio laptop, and Jio Phone.
It is possible that Reliance Jio will make an announcement about the upcoming products at its next annual general meeting, said a report in India Today. In the past, Reliance's AGM is where the company's new products, such as Jio Phone Next, have broken the cover.
