Brazilian telecom operator Americanet announced the purchase of the ISP Omni, from the state of Goiás, for an amount of US$10.6 million.
The deal marks Americanet's entry into serving retail customers in the Midwest as Omni serves wholesale clients in the Central West region and is based in Caldas Novas. Today, Omni has about 25,000 clients and is present in eight municipalities.
Along with founder Lincoln Oliveira, Warburg Pincus is one of the largest shareholders of Americanet, with 41% of the capital. InvestTech is also a partner of Americanet.
According to media reports, the M&A is Americanet's second in less than three months — in October, the company had already purchased Celerix, a company that has a backbone of 1100 kilometers, passing through São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, and the Federal District.
In the sale to Americanet, Omni's partners were advised by IT Investimentos, an M&A boutique that has been gaining ground in telecom and technology deals and which has already made more than R$ 3 billion in transactions.
