Bite Lithuania (Bitė Lietuva), a telecommunications and media group in the Baltic region, has announced the commercial launch of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology, providing customers with improved voice quality and faster call connectivity.
"The new service for our customers is activated free of charge. It is part of the investment in our network and the improvement of quality. We aim to make life and work a little easier for people using Bitė's services, ” said Pranas Kuisys, CEO of Bitė Lietuva.
"Nothing needs to be done for customers running the latest operating system on the device. Activation of the service is indicated by "VoLTE" at the top of the phone screen. If the client device supports the new technology, but you still do not see the message on the screen, you need to update the software in your phone," Pranas explained.
VoLTE is currently available on selected handsets from Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi, with Apple smartphones and other handsets and devices set to follow in the future, said a press release from the company.
Bite said that it partnered with Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson to develop and roll out VoLTE technology.
