Monty Mobile cuts cash supply to Comium

Debt-laden Gambian operator Comium received demands for a full refund from Monty Mobile, the company that swooped in with a cash injection to prevent the operator from shuttering last year.

In a letter seen by Developing Telecoms, telecoms solutions provider Monty Mobile detailed it is terminating the “supplement agreement” signed in January this year.

Comium had 60 days from June 15 to terminate the agreement on its side and 180 days after contract termination to refund the money paid in the supplement, it was not specified how much in the letter.

Monty Mobile came to Comium’s rescue in December stating it prevented the operator from a “permanent close down” and pledged to get rid of its US$1.3 million in debts, with the bulk owed to Gambian regulator PURA for licence fees.

Developing Telecoms reached out to Comium for comment.
