Brazil-based company Neko had its 5G licence waivered after the company requested to vacate its holdings of airwaves in the 26GHz band.
In a translated gazette post, telecoms regulator Anatel stated the waiver does not relieve the company of its obligations and contracts with third parties, including commitments it made with the regulator.
It added the termination of the licence will be processed with a possible investigation of infractions committed by the company while holding the licence. The licence was revoked on April 11.
Neko was one of many smaller players that bagged regional or limited licences at auction. The auction raised BRL47.2 billion (US$9 billion) with national licenses scooped up by America Movil-owned Claro, Telecom Italia-owned TIM Brasil and Telefonica-owned Vivo.
