Reliance Jio strikes JV for domestic equipment manufacturing

Reliance Industries has signed a joint venture agreement with manufacturing solutions company Sanmina, a move to create a manufacturing hub in India and progress with long-term plans to domestically manufacture network gear.

In a statement, Reliance detailed the partnership will create a subsidiary which will be a “world-class electronic manufacturing hub in India”.

The company will produce 5G, cloud and data centre gear equipment at Sanmina’s 100-acre campus in Chennai. The campus can be expanded to support future growth opportunities and the company could expand to new manufacturing sites across the country.

The Reliance Jio parent said the JV, through its subsidiary Reliance Strategic Business Venture, will “prioritise high technology infrastructure hardware” in the above-mentioned technologies as well as, medical and healthcare systems, industrial and clean tech, and defence and aerospace.
