Axian Telecom expanded its vendor partnership with a deal with Ericsson, for the Swedish vendor to upgrade its network in Madagascan unit Telma.
In a statement, Ericsson detailed that upgrades will be carried out on the RAN, microwave transport infrastructure, and core networks.
The vendor stated the solutions to be deployed would provide Madagascar with faster and more reliable mobile services nationwide, reducing energy consumption and enhancing the 5G ecosystem.
Axian Telecom chairman Hassanein Hiridjee (pictured fifth, from right) said: “Under our partnership, we will be boosting digitalization across Madagascar and Tanzania, increasing network capacities, and providing enhanced speeds to our customers. We are looking forward to the deployment of more agile networks that will indeed bring about digital inclusion across Africa.”
Axian Telecom also signed a deal with Ericsson last week at Mobile World Congress Barcelona, to upgrade its 4G network and launch 5G in Tanzania, through Axian’s unit Tigo Tanzania which it acquired from Millicom last year.
