Conflict takes MTN Sudan network down

MTN Sudan revealed its network is down as the country is ripped apart by the ongoing civil war which has led to fuel shortages and power cuts.

In a statement, the MTN unit said it could not supply its main switch sites in Manshia and Garden City located in the capital city of Khartoum due to the lack of fuel, and that it is” diligently to resolve the situation as soon as possible.”

The current Sudan conflict began in April and has seen hundreds of people killed and made homeless. Reuters reported heavy fighting continues to occur in the capital as multiple locations saw the power and water supplies failing.

“We are working hard with the concerned authorities to find immediate solutions,” added MTN Sudan.

"The company fully understands the impact this may have on communication needs and extends its apologies for any inconvenience experienced during this challenging time."
