Yettel to complete Hungary 3G shutdown

Yettel Hungary announced it will switch off its 3G network next month, finally joining its rivals in ultimately sunsetting the legacy technology in Hungary.

CommsUpdate reported, Yettel will turn off its 3G network on November 13 having already decommissions its 900MHz 3G services at the end of 2022. Currently, the operator is phasing out its remaining 2,100MHz 3G network, and by doing so discontinuing its UMTS-2100 services around Lake Balaton and Lake Velence in May 2023 and across Western Hungary in September.

The rest of Hungary will see its 3G signal gone in November as Yettel refocuses on its 4G and 5G services, but it will continue to operate its 2G services.
