iBASIS and Mobily renew multi-service roaming agreement

Connectivity solutions provider iBASIS announced on Wednesday that it has signed a deal with Saudi Arabian telco Etihad Etisalat (a.k.a. Mobily) to renew and extend their multi-service IPX agreement for roaming services.

iBASIS said the renewal highlights the success of its collaboration with Mobily, which has been ongoing since 2014. Thr firm added the partnership has been particularly successful in terms of managing Mobily’s international traffic growth to handle a tenfold increase in mobile data traffic over the past three years.

The enhanced agreement will improve Mobily's network scalability in managing significant traffic surges during peak demand periods, such as the Hajj, Ramadan, and tourism seasons, said Thamer Alfadda, SVP of wholesale at Mobily.

“iBASIS has been a trusted partner of Mobily for over a decade, managing our international voice and mobile services,” he said in a statement. “This milestone reinforces our commitment to innovation and growth as we explore new opportunities, including IoT services, while maintaining the exceptional performance our customers expect.”
