Now Corporation has announced its intention to appeal against the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) decision not to renew its telecoms licence, a move that has rendered the operator inoperative.
In a stock exchange filing, Now Corporation stated that its operating company, Now Telecom, "vehemently disagrees with the NTC Order and will file a motion for reconsideration based on errors of law and fact, and disregard of due process".
The company also detailed that, due to the lack of a licence, its ability to operate and install a mobile network, offer services, and charge for them has been "deemed inoperative." Additionally, its 20MHz of contiguous spectrum in the 3520-3540 MHz frequency has been recalled by the regulator.
The NTC announced its decision last week, citing Now Corporation's failure to comply with regulations and operational requirements. Specifically, the NTC noted that Now had underused its assigned spectrum and had not paid over US$60 million in regulatory fees.
