Zain Bahrain has renewed its partnership with local start-up platform StartUp Bahrain to help push innovation in the telecom and fintech sectors.
Bahrain’s regulatory framework is aimed at creating a productive environment for start-ups in the Kingdom. The Bahrain Economic Board’s head of start-ups Pakiza Abdulrahman said: “Businesses like Zain Bahrain are the backbone of Bahrain’s supportive ICT infrastructure that is fuelling innovation in the start-up ecosystem.”
The past year has seen Zain Bahrain sign a number of agreements with start-ups in the country, including an MoU with the accelerator programme Flat6Labs Bahrain which will see the partners cooperate on mentorship initiatives.
In addition to partnering with StartUp Bahrain, Zain is also collaborating with Bahrain National Broadband Network (BNET) to deliver new fibre broadband packages via the country’s largest fibre network.
The new packages are aimed at delivering low latency and speeds of up to 500Mbps. This will enable services such as 8K streaming, virtual reality, online gaming, and swift downloads. Customers will be able to access as much as 1.5TB of data per month on some tariffs.
