MTN Benin confirmed that it will have invested XOF10 billion (US$17.2 million) into the market this year by the end of December.

The operator also reaffirmed that it plans to extend its mobile 4G/LTE coverage to 75% of the country’s population before 2021 is over, with 89 sites set to receive 4G capacity upgrades. TeleGeography reports that the majority of these will be in the northern regions of the country.

Uche Ofodile, MD of MTN Benin, said: “At MTN, we must participate in the digital transformation of Benin. We have set ourselves the goal of digitally empowering our communities. Benin continues its digital transformation and MTN Benin is taking an active part. It is our responsibility to ensure that every Beninese has equitable access to services that allow it to benefit from the advantages of a modern connected world.”
