Chad issues MNP decree, orders tariff alignment

Chad’s regulator ARCEP (L’Autorite de Regulation des Communications Electroniques et des Postes,) has ordered parity between on-net and off-net tariffs.

While the regulator acknowledged that aligning tariffs could result in an increase in traffic on operator networks, it added that providers must also work to ensure that their quality of service remained constant regardless.

As reported by TeleGeography, Chad’s President Idriss Deby has ordered mobile number portability (MNP) to be implemented nationwide. Under the decree, ARCEP will be required to work with operators to establish and maintain a porting system to be funded by the providers.
