All available spectrum sold in Latvia’s 700MHz auctions

Latvia’s Public Utilities Commission (Sabiedrisko Pakalpojumu Regulesanas Komisija / SPRK) has named the winning bidders in its recent auctions for technology neutral spectrum licences in the 700MHz band.

The bidding was conducted in December 2021 and generated EUR13.27 million (US$15.03 million). TeleGeography notes that three 2×10MHz lots and two 1×10MHz lots were available, the former valid for 20 years and the latter for 17 years.

For the paired blocks, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) lodged the highest bid, spending EUR3.52 million to acquire the 713MHz-723MHz/768MHz-778MHz blocks. Bite Latvia bid EUR2.86 million for the 723MHz-733MHz/778MHz-788MHz blocks, while Tele2 spent EUR2.42 million on the 703MHz-713MHz/758MHz-768MHz blocks.

LMT and Tele2 also obtained the unpaired spectrum blocks after a bidding match that went on for 179 rounds, with the final price reaching EUR2.24 million from a reserve price of EUR150,000 per lot.
