Lithuania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT / Rysiu Reguliavimo Tarnyba) has invited bids for the next available lot of 5G mobile spectrum.
The 3.5GHz auction follows the 700MHz auction which began in May and has not yet concluded. Local news outlet Verslo Zinios reported that three 100MHz blocks will be available across the 3400MHz-3700MHz range, with the reserve price per lot set at EUR3 million (US$3.0 million). Permits are valid for 20 years.
CommsUpdate reports that the licences have various obligations attached to them, with winning bidders required to launch commercial 5G in at least one city from 2023. By the following year, coverage must be expanded to major cities before reaching all towns and built-up settlements by 2030.
