SpaceX’s Starlink has been granted a licence to provide satellite broadband in the Bahamas.
The archipelago’s Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) published its most recent Public Register of Individual Licensees and Class Licensees on 31st March 2023, with the register confirming that Starlink Services Bahamas was issued a Class Spectrum Licence and a Class Operating Licence on 15th February 2023.
SpaceX is planning to create a fleet of 42,000 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, and to date has launched around 4000. Starlink has been snapping up licences worldwide, and currently holds licences in around 50 markets. Most recently, we reported on its launch in Ecuador, while in February the firm obtained a licence for Rwanda.
