Cisco Retains Lead in World Router Market amid Increasing Competition

According to an Infonetics Research report this month, Cisco remains ahead of Chinese firms ZTE and Huawei in the world market for Ethernet and IP routers. The American firm posted an increase of profits this quarter. Mobile backhauling is a crucial application.

China is seen by experts as a key area for overall market revenue, with a near 50 percent increase of revenues from the territory quarter on quarter. Firms are competing for market share according to Infonetics Research. Sources from the Chinese market indicate a strong competitive focus on price/ performance ratio and overall affordability.

The flurry of activity in the Chinese router market is indicative that smartphone uptake will be felt across industry verticals. China is predicted to have one of the world’s largest smartphone markets by 2015.
