Jio Platforms Limited, a product company focusing on innovation in the areas of 4G and 5G networks as well as cloud and edge solutions, and part of Indian giant Reliance Industries, has been busy building partnerships in the 5G space.
Among recent deals, it has announced a collaboration with Spirent Communications, a provider of test, assurance and analytics solutions for next-generation devices and networks, to validate its cloud-native 5G standalone core network for real-world workloads and traffic conditions using Spirent Landslide.
The Landslide 5G Core Automation Package, says Spirent, allows users to leverage a library of automated test cases developed and maintained by 5G experts to speed 5G core test and validation.
Jio used Landslide to perform core network capacity tests, measure device data throughput, and model a wide variety of complex end-user behavioural call models and mobility scenarios.
Landslide successfully validated Jio’s cloud-native 5G core network for heavy signalling and data plane workloads using hardware acceleration technologies, as well as supporting fallback to LTE, while providing support for HD Voice over NR (VoNR).
This, say the partners, helped Jio in subjecting its ‘all-IP network’ to 5G and VoNR-based standalone and adjacency tests. Landslide also validated compliance to 3GPP functions.
There’s also been a collaboration between NXP Semiconductors, a leading name in secure connectivity solutions for embedded applications, to implement a 5G NR O-RAN small cell solution that incorporates NXP’s Layerscape family of multicore processors.
The combined solution, say the partners, will power new RAN networks that will deliver high performance, enabling a wide range of 5G use cases for broadband access as well as Industry 4.0 and IoT applications, including tele-medicine, tele-education, augmented/virtual reality, drone-based agricultural monitoring and more.
