Digital micropayments facilitator TPAY Mobile said on Tuesday it has launched direct carrier billing for PUBG Mobile in Egypt as part of an expansion of TPAY’s partnership with Tencent.

The partnership enables gamers in Egypt to purchase PUBG Mobile UC (unknown cash) through the official PUBG shop ‘Midasbuy’. The UC is then immediately added to their PUBG account.

PUBG Mobile is the mobile version of PUBG: Battlegrounds, a battle royale video game developed by LightSpeed & Quantum Studio, a division of Tencent Games.

TPAY said its partnership with Tencent has also enabled direct carrier billing for other Tencent games in UAE, Oman and Qatar, including Synced, Undawn, and Whiteout Survival.

Tencent’s partnership with TPAY in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region started in May 2019 with TPAY Turkey to enable in-game purchases for PUBG through direct carrier billing across all of Turkey’s three operators. Bank transfers payment were added later as another payment method in Turkey, covering eight banks.

Tencent and TPAY are now expanding their partnership to offer direct carrier billing across META covering PUBG Mobile and other new games, with more new launches in the pipeline.

“The Middle East gaming market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11% from 2023 to 2028, yet companies outside of this region have underestimated its potential,” said TPAY Group CEO Işık Uman in a statement. “Expanding our partnership with one of the largest game publishers, Tencent, will allow the company to reach a much larger audience and further grow their business in this region.”

Uman added that the Middle East North Africa (MENA) is one of the fastest growing gaming regions in the world, with over 377 million estimated gamers expected to generate $5 billion in 2025.
