Plintron is entering the Indian telecom market after receiving the country’s first unified licence specifically for MVNOs.
The company is the world’s Largest Multi-country Virtual Network Enabler/Aggregator (MVNE/MVNA), and the licence issued to it by India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is valid for all Services across all 22 telecom circles. Prior to its entry into India, Plintron’s global experience includes launch of 80 VNO brands and inter-connection with 30+ leading Telecom operators in 25 countries across every continent.
Mohan Kumar Sundaram, Co-Founder and Chairman, Plintron Group said: “The Department of Telecommunications has published a forward looking VNO Policy, which will tremendously benefit the cause of affordable, quality connectivity for all Indians.”
To commence operations, Plintron is investing in building capacity, radio coverage and infrastructure in India, and is in talks with Network Service Operators (NSOs) to access their network on a VNO model especially for rural Indian markets. Once wholesale network access is provided to the MVNO, they then bear the cost of sales, marketing and customer acquisition, making such a partnership attractive to NSOs to acquire higher market share.
“Plintron will offer specialised solutions to enterprises with established customer base and additionally introduce internationally successful products into Indian market, helping enterprises reap immediate gains through an increase in customer loyalty and an enhanced “share of wallet” in their customer spends with minimal upfront investment’, stated Subhashree Radhakrishnan, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman, Plintron Group.
With its Global Technology Delivery Centre in India employing 1,000+ Telecom professionals and years of global experience across 25 countries in the MVNO space, Plintron has extensive experience in delivering solutions that are fully compliant to all regulatory requirements of the DOT and TRAI, including requirements on Mobile Number Portability, Lawful interception, Network Security, Subscriber registration and Customer on-boarding norms.
