American Power Conversion (APC) has completed the acquisition of privately-held NetBotz, a provider of IP-based environmental and video monitoring solutions, for US$31 million in cash.

The addition of NetBotz is intended to strengthen APC's portfolio of products and services for NCPI. APC will integrate the NetBotz suite of data centre environmental and video monitoring solutions with its InfraStruXure architecture, giving customers an end-to-end solution aimed at ensuring the availability of their critical network resources.

IT physical security is a top concern for many networking managers. NetBotz is expected to help APC address this concern with a suite of security management products that complement APC's InfraStruXure architecture for wiring closets, server rooms and large data centres. In addition to new software management capabilities, NetBotz will add video surveillance and an array of environmental sensors to APC's InfraStruXure architecture, providing customers with an early warning, active monitoring platform that can identify and resolve events before they result in downtime.
