Beijing, the Capital of China, now has 45,700 5G base stations as of the end of August, with 5G users totaling over 12 million, said the report.
According to data released by the Beijing Communications Administration, every 10,000 people in Beijing enjoy about 20 5G base stations, ranking first in China. The capital city has realized full coverage of the 5G network in key functional areas, including its downtown core area, sub-center, and central business district.
"The technology applies in healthcare, education, tourism, and the industrial internet," said Su Shaolin, director of the administration.
Meanwhile, China's three main telecom operators have announced their subscriber totals for August 2021, including a combined net increase of over 7.2 mln mobile subscribers in China, boosting their combined mobile subscriber base to nearly 1.631 bln.
According to Marbridge Consulting, as of the end of August 2021, the 5G subscriber totals of China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom reached 304.15 mln, 146.62 mln, and 129.06 mln, respectively, comprising 32.0%, 40.0%, and 41.2% of their total mobile subscriber bases.
