Subscribers of one of the Caribbean’s leading service providers, United Telecommunications Services (UTS), are now able to access improved data services. The operator has modernised its network, increasing capacity to more than 3 terabits per second, using 40G technology to meet the growing demand for bandwidth-hungry data services. UTS selected Nokia Siemens Networks equipment and services for the upgrade.

“Our 40G solution is helping UTS meet its customers’ current demand for data services and will expand with them into the future,” said Michael Jakob, head of business development for the Caribbean at Nokia Siemens Networks. “Our aim was to assure UTS of a reliable and low-cost network platform, complemented by world-class service and support, which can help them reduce operating costs while offering truly competitive services.”

Nokia Siemens Networks supplied its hiT 7300 dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) platform to provide a reliable and scalable backbone network, and its hiT 7080 multi-service provisioning platform for a flexible means of offering new services.

Nokia Siemens Networks also supplied its all-in-one network management system, which optimises network operations through centralised control and supervision, along with implementation services that supported the deployment. It also provided network implementation and care services supporting the rollout.
