Wataniya & Mpathix bring MMS-based mobile email to Maldives

Mpathix Inc, a supplier of wireless messaging solutions, has announced that Wataniya Maldives has chosen to deploy Mpathix Mobile Email.

This push email solution was designed for consumers who do not wish to purchase more expensive smart phones. Using Mobile Messaging Services (MMS) technology, Mpathix Mobile Email allows wireless subscribers to receive and reply to emails on any mobile phone.

One key advantage is that unlike some mobile email services, Mpathix Mobile Email does not require a Java client to be downloaded and installed on the phone. This therefore reduces the amount of time and effort required to set up the push email service. Account configuration is designed to be easy, with just an email address and password required. Additionally, advanced filtering options allow subscribers to choose which emails they would like to receive on their handsets, minimising the amount of unwanted messages pushed to their handset.

Ronny Hanna, Product and Services Senior Manager at Wataniya Maldives, explains the choice: "There is a market for consumer mobile email in the Maldives, but it is really important that the service be easy to use, affordable and convenient, which is why we selected Mpathix Mobile Email."

* Launched in 1999, Wataniya Telecom is a mobile phone operator in the Middle East and North Africa. It currently serves more than 6 million customers in Kuwait, Tunisia, Iraq, Algeria and Saudi Arabia.
