Bulgaria could see the launch of its first MVNO if discussions between the country’s mobile operators and five TV and internet providers prove fruitful.
Nwt 1, Neterra, SKAT, Telekabel and Telecom (believed to refer to Bulgaria Telecommunications Company) are pushing a venture entitled Mobile Alternative Communications which would allow them to offer services over the Bulgarian operators’ networks.
The five firms would each hold an equal share in the venture, and are ready to form an agreement with whichever operator offers them the most favourable terms. The venture would deliver services including IoT and smart home functionalities.
Neven Dilkov, MD of fixed line operator Neterra, claims that the benefits of an MVNO in Bulgaria would be myriad. Mobile operators would be able to use their networks more efficiently, while services will become more flexible to the benefit of consumers.
