Albanian operator ALBtelecom is implementing Sicap’s Mobile Device Management Centre (DMC) to offer its subscribers automated handset configuration with a faster problem resolution from its customer care centres.

SIM penetration in Albania is similar to the average European level of 119% for active users, but onlu 38% have access to mobile broadband data services. However, adoption of these services has risen by 67% year-on-year, so growth is promising.

The large share of low-cost mobile devices presents a challenging and costly market for operators in Albania, despite the lucrative mobile revenue growth opportunity. The issue is that these low-cost devices find it more difficult to connect to a network and the device users are forced to frequently call the operators’ care centres for support.

Pandeli Mitre, Coordinator of Technology Group at ALBtelecom said: “Sicap’s Device Management Centre will automatically detect and configure all the device models in the Albanian market. This translates into quick and hassle-free mobile data connectivity for our customers.”
