Broadband provider Ukrtelecom has revealed it fought back against a powerful cyber-attack and is currently restoring services.
Customer access was restricted by the Ukrainian provider to protect the military and critical infrastructure, reported the BBC.
Internet monitoring website Netblocks reported connectivity collapsed 13% of pre-war levels and it was the severest disruption to service since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.
However, other providers speaking to the BBC reported no problems.
Ukrtelecom claims to be the largest broadband provider in Ukraine in terms of coverage but Kyivstar is the leader in terms of subscriber number. It has been operating at about 80% of coverage because of damage to infrastructure from the invasion.
Ukrtelecom chief executive Yuriy Kurmaz said: "In order to protect the critical network infrastructure and not interrupt services to the Armed Forces, other military bodies and users of critical infrastructure, we were forced to temporarily restrict internet access to most private users and business customers," he added.
