America Movil tackles cybercrime with Mexico’s National Guard

America Movil’s Mexican unit Telmex has signed a partnership agreement with the country’s National Guard to counter cybercrime.

According to Reuters, Telmex’s cybersecurity division Scitum will share its “experience and solutions to prevent cyberattacks” with the National Guard, enabling faster detection of online risks and swifter action against them. Since 2019, Mexico’s National Guard has investigated more than 5800 cybercrimes.

Scitum Chief Executive Cristina Hernandez Fernandez said: “We are convinced the only way to deal with cybercrime is by working together, and that collaboration must take place between academic and government institutions and the private sector.”
