Indonesian telco Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison says it has formed a partnership with Cisco via its enterprise arm Lintasarta to enhance cybersecurity for enterprises in Indonesia.
Under the partnership announced on Friday, Lintasarta and Cisco have developed a joint go-to-market initiative that leverages Cisco’s expertise in networking and security with Indosat’s local market knowledge to deliver tailored cybersecurity solutions to enterprises.
While cybersecurity is a challenge everywhere, Indosat said it’s becoming more challenging every day in Indonesia as companies make the shift to hybrid, multi-cloud, application-first environments, and that’s before you factor AI into the equation.
More to the point, according to Cisco’s 2024 Cybersecurity Readiness Index, only 12% of Indonesian organizations possess a "mature" level of readiness against cyber threats.
"As digital adoption accelerates, cybersecurity becomes essential in building a trusted and resilient digital ecosystem,” said Indosat’s president director and CEO Vikram Sinha in a statement. “Our partnership with Cisco will enhance security resilience for Indonesian businesses, empowering them to operate securely and confidently in the digital landscape.”
Indosat and Cisco said they will also provide digital and cybersecurity skills training via Cisco’s Networking Academy to empower Indonesia’s workforce and close the widening skills gap in the country.
The Cybersecurity Readiness Index also found that 97% of Indonesian companies cite critical talent shortages as a barrier to improving cybersecurity. According to the index, 59% of companies saying they had more than 10 roles related to cybersecurity unfilled in their organization at the time of the survey.
