TIM Brasil has announced its intention to be the first operator in Brazil to migrate its data centres to the cloud.

The migration to a multicloud environment will involve all of its data centres, which are located in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

As part of this strategy, the operator has signed a partnership with Oracle and Microsoft, which, the company says, will allow it to improve customer service processes, internal operations, billing, collection and management of digital platforms with speed, scalability and security, in a project that combines innovation, sustainability and efficiency.

The migration process is expected to be carried out in the next two years, with the transfer of all TIM’s resources to the cloud.

The migration is part of a strategic plan for the operator, which involves digitizing all processes, including service and relationship platforms.

Microsoft and Oracle already have a global cloud interoperability partnership that offers an approach to connecting their two clouds, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud, of which an integrated support system is part.

Using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle's second-generation data centre, and the adoption of the Microsoft Azure platform, TIM will, it says, have the most complete security certification solution on the market and an ultra-high-speed connection and be able to maintain its systems with the highest levels of security.

Migration to the cloud also reduces emissions directly associated with storing data in physical spaces, an important step towards the operator's goal of being carbon-neutral by 2030.
