BDx Data Centers’ Indonesian subsidiary said on Thursday it has signed an agreement to purchase 30 MVA of electricity from Indonesia’s national electric power distributor PLN for two of its data centres.
BDx Indonesia – a JV between BDx, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Lintasarta – said the partnership with PLN will supply critical power capacity to its growing data centre operations, especially the upcoming CGK3A Campus in South Jakarta and its renewable-energy powered 500MW CGK4 AI data center park in Jatiluhur.
The US$150 million CGK3A data centre, which began construction in April 2023, sports an IT load capacity of 15MW to serve companies and hyperscalers in Indonesia. In January this year, BDx Indonesia signed a cooperation agreement with the Association of Indonesia Internet Service Providers (APJII) to establish CGK3A as a digital hub for internet traffic exchange by launching a new Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) node there.
Phase 1 of the CGK4 campus was launched in July 2024, offering 70MW of IT capacity. The facility, which uses only renewable energy, is designed to scale up to 50MW upon completion, with support for up to 120kW per rack. BDx said the CGK4 campus is among the first in the country to achieve NVIDIA DGX-Ready certification for delivering scalable, high-performance infrastructure for AI and other advanced computing workloads.
“Reliable, scalable power from PLN is the backbone of AI and digital innovation across the country,” said Agus Hartono Wijaya, president director of BDx Indonesia. “Indonesia is emerging as a digital powerhouse, and with PLN’s support, we’re scaling smarter, greener, and faster to meet the region’s growing demands for AI, sustainability, and digital sovereignty.”
