Myanmar operators launch data awareness campaign

The four mobile operators active in Myanmar are launching a collaborative campaign to raise awareness of possible pitfalls related to data usage.

MPT, Mytel, Ooredoo and Telenor have pledged to educate their subscribers on the issue so that they avoid inadvertently racking up high usage bills or exhausting their data allowance. The campaign aims to encourage aware and efficient data usage to prevent such occurrences.

In a statement, the operators said that many data users in Myanmar were unaware of how to reduce or prevent unintentional data consumption, for example by changing the settings of their apps and devices or being more mindful of how their usage patterns could generate unexpectedly high bills.

To this end, each operator is releasing a ten-point guide with tips on setting up data connectivity and using it efficiently.
