ZTE revealed on Tuesday that China Mobile is deploying its AI telco cloud solution within its network to improve energy efficiency and lower opex costs following verification tests in Hunan and Anhui provinces.
According to ZTE, the “AI-Driven Green Telco Cloud solution” uses neural network models to monitor and analyze key parameters such as servers load and network traffic in near real-time. This enables the network to instantly identify and calculate optimal computing requirements based on network load or tidal load, and then automatically adjust the use of computing resources using energy-saving measures such as CPU frequency adjustment and CPU sleeping.
ZTE said that once the solution is rolled out across China Mobile’s entire network, the telco will be able to lower opex costs by not only reducing energy consumption, but also improving resource utilization by dynamically allocating resources based on actual telecoms traffic. That also helps extend the service life of the equipment, which further reduces the costs of equipment replacement and maintenance.
The rollout of ZTE’s Green Telco Cloud solution follows verification tests on China Mobile’s live network in Anhui and Hunan earlier this year. The tests were conducted on both X86 and ARM cloud platforms, and demonstrated energy-saving ratios as high as 25%, ZTE said.
