Nokia and Zain KSA announced on Wednesday they are partnering to deploy a 4G/5G femtocell solution for enterprise customers in Saudi Arabia to fill indoor mobile coverage gaps and optimise connectivity.
The solution makes use of 4G and 5G Smart Nodes, as well as a package of Nokia products and services such as its IP Security Gateway, Femto Manager and end to end delivery services.
Nokia said the femtocell solution is designed to be simple and cost-effective, featuring a plug-and-play setup that minimizes reliance on customer infrastructure. The solution is optimised to integrate into Zain KSA’s network.
“Our smart node solution is uniquely positioned to help Zain KSA improve B2B time to market, enhance customer experience and offload traffic from [the] macro RAN,” said Haitham Baba, Nokia’s Saudi head of enterprise mobile networks.”
He added that the femtocell solution is the first to be deployed not only in Saudi Arabia, but also the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
