UAE-based telco du says it has joined the FreeMove Alliance between Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telia, and TIM, which expands the reach of the alliance’s global mobile connectivity solutions for multinational corporations (MNCs) into the Middle East.
The FreeMove Alliance was established in 2003 to create a global mobile services hub for MNCs that enables them to optimize their mobile connectivity investments by providing global access to mobile networks via a central point of management.
Between the various mobile operations of members Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telia, and TIM, and alliances struck with Bridge Alliance, BT, Millicom, Eir Evo, NOS, Swisscom and Turkcell, the FreeMove Alliance already covers over 125 countries.
With du onboard as of Monday, the FreeMove Alliance can now extend its reach to the Middle Eastern market, which du said offers “substantial benefits” to both the alliance's operators and their international clientele engaging in business activities in the region.
Du also said the deal enables it to provide its own multinational customers access to the alliance’s global enterprise mobility solutions, offering centralized management benefits and comprehensive global business support.
“This partnership will help us enhance our service portfolio and strengthens our mission to serve the international business community with unparalleled telecommunications support,” said du’s chief commercial officer Karim Benkirane in a statement.
