Indian telecoms service provider Reliance Communications has partnered Internet of Things (IoT) firm Jasper to enable Indian enterprises to launch, manage and monetise next-generation IoT businesses.
Reliance is the first Indian telecom to partner Jasper in India, with the partnership pairing Reliance's 11 data centre facilities and its Cloud X platform with Jasper's global IoT services platform to allow Indian enterprises to capitalise on IoT services.
The partners said the arrangement marks another step forward in delivering infrastructure and an IoT platform in order to boost the government's 'Digital India' initiative.
"Businesses throughout India - as well as India's own infrastructure and services - are undergoing a massive transformation," said Bill Barney, chief executive officer (CEO) of Reliance's Enterprise and Global Cloud Xchange.
"Reliable networks, innovative Cloud computing and scalable IoT platforms are critical to enabling this revolution. We are pleased to team up with Jasper in this important deployment of IoT services, enabling businesses across India to build, implement and go to market faster, while gaining real-time visibility, control and service reliability."
Reliance Group companies will be anchor clients for the IoT rollout in India, with discussions underway with clients and Indian state governments for the deployment of the platform.
"India is investing a great deal to empower citizens and enterprises with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure, and as a result, there is a large demand for Cloud and IoT services," said Jahangir Mohammed, founder and CEO of Jasper.
"This partnership allows us to support enterprises and governments throughout India in optimizing and automating every stage of their IoT service lifecycle, enabling companies to get the most out of their devices, networks and applications."
Jasper said its Control Centre platform will enable enterprises to deliver IoT services that create value for customers and unlock new revenue sources.
