Digital Technology in Fibre Distribution System

For indoor DAS coverage, RF-over-fibre offers an excellent solution, due to abundant fibre resource in modern buildings.

Digital fibre distribution system is a novel solution that extends the radio frequency part of the base station to serve multiple frequency bands by means of digital processing, digital fibre transmission and software radio technology. Allowing the integration of multiple systems and offering unified network coverage, it solves the problems of difficult macro station construction and high cost/low rate of return, it improves user experience and reduces network construction costs (CAPEX).

At the same time, through wireless remote monitoring and management, the operation cost (OPEX) is greatly reduced, and network signal quality is improved. At present, it is mainly used in tunnels, village in city, basements, and other similar scenarios to enhance wireless network coverage.

Prevail Technology’s recently developed 5G+4G digital hybrid fibre repeater addresses this RF- over-fibre scenario. In particular, with 5G signal integrated into the repeater, the MIMO repeater download speed can reach 600Mbps+, allowing the DAS to satisfy data-hungry services such as YouTube, video calling, TikTok, AI, VR, telesurgery etc. In addition, designed-in digital technology also enables the remote cascading networking mode, theoretically with up to six layers. As a result DAS coverage offers consumers a wider and more efficient service.
