ZTE Corporation, a provider of information and communication technology solutions, and operator Bitel Peru say they have successfully completed the extensive deployment of a 100K HHPP FTTH (homes passed / fibre to the home) network, utilising ZTE's innovative Light ODN solution.
The implementation, says ZTE, has enabled what is described as the ‘intelligentisation’ of passive networks during rapid construction, making optical distribution networks (ODNs) visible, manageable and controllable.
This marks the first large-scale commercial utilisation of ZTE's Light ODN solution in the international South American market and signifies a vital transformation for Bitel, evolving from a wireless service provider to a full-service operator.
ZTE says its Light ODN solution focuses on two key innovations: lightweight construction based on the pre-termination solution, and the illumination of passive ODNs. This illumination renders the topology of ODNs visible, allowing for efficient resource management.
The splice-free pre-connectorised solution significantly reduces construction time and labour costs, effectively addressing customers' needs for rapid network deployment.
In addition, the ZTE Light ODN solution supports intelligent management. By scanning QR codes and barcodes on pre-connectorised boxes or pre-fabricated cable connectors through a dedicated app, it collects real-time resource information from ODNs, enabling customers to easily monitor optical cable health and perform real-time maintenance on passive ODNs.
ZTE explains that Bitel Peru has achieved a significant milestone by spearheading the extensive deployment of Light ODN solutions in South America. This innovative solution has been successfully implemented across 204 regions within Peru.
