Algeria Telecom has reportedly kicked off an online survey asking Algerians to identify areas that are not yet connected by fibre in preparation for planned FTTH rollouts next year.
According to the official Algérie Press Service, Algeria Telecom plans to deploy FTTH connectivity across all neighbourhoods and regions of the country as part of its 2026 action plan.
Algeria Telecom described the digital survey as a “participatory mechanism” for citizens to help accelerate the deployment of fibre throughout the country, the report said.
Algeria Telecom also said the online survey results “will make it possible to study and integrate areas not covered by the FTTH network in future extension projects, in line with the aspirations and needs of customers”, the report added.
The telco recently reported that its FTTH subscriber base had grown from 53,000 in 2020 to just over 2 million as of April 30, 2025. However, that’s still just 27% of the 7.4 million households recorded in Algeria as of March 31, 2024, according to news agency Ecofin.
The latest figures from the Data Reportal website indicate that 76.9% of Algerians were connected to the internet at the start of 2025, the vast majority of them via mobile.
The form will be available on the Algeria Telecom website until the end of July.
