Axess offers satellite support for Mexico’s CFE TEIT

Axess Networks, a global provider of satellite communications solutions, has announced plans to connect more than 700 new 4G nodes via satellite as part of the CFE TEIT programme, a national development plan in Mexico. TEIT stands for TElecomunicaciones e Internet para Todos or Telecommunications and Internet for All.

The new 4G nodes will be connected throughout 2023. These new nodes will be added to the more than 650 nodes that Mexico’s Shared Network (Red Compartida) and CFE TEIT already connect in the country through Axess. Red Compartida’s open access 700MHz 4G network has been available across Mexico since March 2018.

Axess has a strong position in the satellite cellular backhaul market in Latin America; it has more than 1,300 connected nodes and more than 10 Gbps of capacity dedicated to this area. It also provides service to more than 2,400 internet points in Mexico within the CFE TEIT programme.

This deployment will, it is claimed, allow CFE to boost the development and digital economy of around 20 million people who are still outside areas where there are traditional broadband services. CFE helps by offering internet and mobile phone plans with easy access to 4G LTE services and affordable rates, with no fixed terms.

According to the Via Satellite news service, TEIT has already deployed 67,256 connectivity points, involving more than 50,000 public institutions and schools, and 14,181 connectivity points related to satellite technology.
