Veon-owned Beeline Kazakhstan announced on Tuesday that it has commercially launched Starlink Mobile direct-to-device (D2D) satellite service in the country, enabling customers to access apps and messaging in areas outside of its terrestrial coverage.
Customers with 4G smartphones can activate and manage Starlink Mobile, and access step-by-step guidance, through Beeline’s Janymda super app and digital platform.
Beeline said Starlink’s LEO-powered D2D satellite service will help maintain connectivity in hard-to-reach areas, making it particularly useful for emergency and rescue services, road and utility services, tourists, mountaineers, travellers, and people working at sites in remote areas.
The telco will offer Starlink Mobile free of charge for an “initial period” to let customers experience it.
Beeline Kazakhstan has been testing the Starlink Mobile service since December 2025, when it placed the first WhatsApp call over Starlink’s network in Central Asia.
“This was a real team effort and close collaboration with the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and with Starlink Mobile to get the technology right for our market,” said Beeline Kazakhstan CEO Jabbor Kayumov in a statement. “We're proud to be the first operator in Kazakhstan to bring Starlink Mobile to market, helping people stay connected when it matters most.”
Beeline Kazakhstan is the second digital operator in Veon’s stable to commercially launch Starlink Mobile services, following the commercial launch of D2C service with Ukraine’s Kyivstar in November 2025. Veon’s Bangladesh subsidiary Banglalink is next in the queue, having signed a deal with Starlink Mobile in April this year.
While Beeline is the first telco to offer the Starlink Mobile service in Kazakhstan, local telco Transtelecom – an official Starlink partner – has been working this year to install Starlink broadband connectivity in remote settlements and on trains operated by Passenger Transportation JSC.
