Veon-owned Ukrainian telco Kyivstar said on Monday it has launched a generative AI (GenAI) lab in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help local enterprises adopt GenAI to improve their business processes.
The new lab will leverage AWS’s cloud solutions to provide AI services, including text and visual content generation, augmented intelligence-based chatbots and virtual assistants, among others.
These GenAI tools will help to enhance operational efficiencies for Ukrainian businesses, create competitive advantages and support long-term growth, said Kyivstar CEO Oleksandr Komarov.
“Generative AI has the potential to be a transformative force for the efficiency and competitiveness of Ukraine’s enterprises. It will also play a pivotal role in driving economic growth as part of Ukraine’s long-term recovery,” Komarov, said in a statement.
The launch of the GenAI lab builds on a collaboration agreement signed by Kyivstar and AWS in December 2023, which focused on accelerating cloud migration, enhancing data storage solutions and strengthening cybersecurity, in addition to the migration of Kyivstar’s own data management platform to the AWS cloud.
Kyivstar said it will continue to leverage AWS to offer services like cloud migration and analytics to international markets to build up Ukraine’s technology export capacity.
