Apple sales in India hits $6 billion

Apple sales in India surged to hit almost US$6 billion in the year through March according to sources speaking to Bloomberg.

In March 2022, sales in India were US$4.1 billion in the year through March 2022. Apple has increased its production scale in India with 7% of its total iPhone production now there, up from 1% in 2021. India has manufactured over US$7 billion worth of iPhones in the last fiscal year, reported Blomberg.

The shift in production comes at a time when the US and China see trade tension, and China’s supply chain continues to be hampered by covid-19.

Apple also recently deepened its ties in India with the preparation to launch its first Apple Stores in India, in the cities of Mumbai and New Delhi this year.

The Wall Street Journal reported in May 2022, Apple had begun shifting production from China to India and Vietnam, due to China continuing with its strict zero covid policy
