Apple manufacturer partner Foxconn has reportedly begun production of the iPhone 15 in a factory in Southern India, as the semiconductor giant continues to pivot away from its reliance on Chinese manufacturing.
Bloomberg reported, the factory is in Sriperumbudur, and is working on shipping the next iPhone weeks after China-based Foxconn facilities push out their batch, according to sources speaking to the publication. Apple usually unveils its latest iPhone range in September.
Taiwan-based Foxconn was reportedly in motion to up its investment in India to over US$1.2 billion by opening two new factories, with one to build iPhone components.
It also moved to construct an EV batteries factory in Vietnam, reportedly having gained permission from authorities in the South East Asian nation.
