Etisalat Afghanistan implements WeDo’s Business Assurance solution

Enterprise business assurance provider WeDo Technologies has announced that the Afghan subsidiary of Etisalat is using its RAID product as a single, integrated platform for revenue assurance and fraud management (RA&FM).

The platform was implemented a year ago and Etisalat Afghanistan has recovered the total investment of the project within 12 months.

Etisalat Afghanistan is a wholly owned subsidiary of Etisalat Group which has over 140 million subscribers in 18 countries. Since being formed in 2007, its revenue growth has doubled year-on-year, making it the fastest growing telecoms company in the country. As a result, it needs to ensure that the appropriate measures are in place to control fraud and revenue assurance processes.

Alfred Lelya Kiteme, Director, Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management at Etisalat Afghanistan, said: “WeDo is able to provide us with the stability and expertise required to provide assurance on revenue generated, prevent revenue leakage, and deter and detect fraud across all areas of the business using one integrated solution.”

With an active subscriber base of over 3.8 million customers, Etisalat Afghanistan is now the third most popular operator in Afghanistan and has a presence in three provinces, 182 districts and in more than 12,000 retail outlets. Having selected WeDo Technologies’ integrated RA&FM solution in 2012, the company implemented the solution in four modules: service usage controls; platform integrity controls; fraud management services and prepaid balance validation controls. With the implementation now complete, all milestones and targets outlined at the beginning of the project have been achieved.

Álvaro Ribeiro, Vice-President of the Asia Pacific region for WeDo Technologies, said; “As Etisalat Afghanistan continues to expand and processes become increasingly intricate, it is important to recognise the synergies between revenue assurance and fraud management across the infrastructure. By implementing a common platform across both business areas, we were able to optimise costs by facilitating the relationship between the two teams and ensuring processes were aligned whilst addressing their specific individual needs.”
