NetOne taps Huawei for mobile broadband upgrade in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwean state-owned operator NetOne is collaborating with Huawei on the second phase of its ICT services upgrade.

According to local outlet Daily News, the development project is a “strategic cooperation between China and Zimbabwe” focused on mobile broadband.

Huawei will oversee the delivery of the new phase, which is aimed at expanding mobile broadband coverage to remote and mountainous regions. TeleGeography notes that Phase III, which is set to last two years, will seek to extend this connectivity nationwide.

Huawei executive Jiang Jiaqi said: “The successful implementation of this project will drive the development of related industries, improve Zimbabwe’s informatisation and modernisation, and provide an efficient and convenient service platform for investors.”
