A1 Bulgaria taps Nokia for 5G RAN

A1 Bulgaria has chosen Nokia as the main equipment supplier for its radio access network (RAN).

CommsUpdate reports that A1 is deploying its 5G network using Nokia’s 5G radio portfolio – including its AirScale product line – to provide gigabit download speeds and low latency.

Todor Tashev, Senior Director of Network and Services at A1 Bulgaria, said: “A1 is just beginning to show the benefits of 5G to our customers ... We have many interesting years ahead of us in which we will create new solutions to meet customer needs – starting from mixed (non-standalone [NSA]) networks and later moving to private networks, ultra-low latency and massive communication between machines.”

A1’s 5G offering can be accessed in more than 75 cities across Bulgaria, reaching approximately 50% of the population.
