DITO now has 2 million subscribers in the Philippines

The third telecommunications player in the Philippines, DITO Telecommunity Corp it already has two million subscribers, five months after its commercial launch.

“In less than five months after our official launch, we have just reached two million subscribers, covering around 200 cities nationwide,” DITO said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

The telco, operated by Dennis Uy's companies with China Telecom, said it reached the milestone on Sunday, August 1, just a month and a half after it reached 1 million users.

"If you may recall, Dito hit its one-millionth-subscriber mark mid-June of this year as well, and these two milestones have inspired us to remain steadfast in our goal of building strong communities with even stronger connectivity in the years to come," said Dito chief administrative officer Adel Tamano.

DITO’s take-up rate and coverage rollout is proceeding swiftly as it works to hit an ambitious target of securing a 30% market share in the long term. Based on the technical audit by R.G. Manabat & Co, the telco is currently capable of serving 37.48 percent of the country’s population.

DITO is also working with Globe Telecom and PLDT Inc's Smart Communication for the implementation of the Number Portability Law in September.
